Frequently Asked Questions

Your Outdoor Service Questions, Answered Completely

Twenty-five real questions from Northeast Louisiana homeowners, answered in full — services, prices, scheduling, service areas, and how College Bros works.

This page collects the questions Monroe-area homeowners actually ask us — by text, in driveways, and in our chat — and answers each one completely, so you do not have to dig through five pages to plan one project. Every figure quoted below comes from the same published rates you will find on our pricing page, and every claim is one we can stand behind.

The answers are grouped by topic: lawn care, landscaping, washing, hardscaping, then service areas, booking, money, and the company itself. When a topic deserves more depth, the answer points you to the page that has it. And if your question is not here, the fix is easy — book online or call or text (318) 600-9123 and ask a person who can actually answer it, the same day.

Lawn Care & Mowing

How much does it cost to have a lawn mowed in Monroe, LA?

College Bros Outdoor Services prices lawn care by yard size and visit frequency, straight from the published package sheet. Basic Lawn Care — mow, string trimming, and blow-off, with hard-surface cleanup included — runs $55 per visit on a weekly schedule for yards under a quarter acre, $80 for a quarter to half acre, $105 for a half acre up to an acre, and $140 for an acre or more; bi-weekly and monthly visits cost a little more per cut, and one-time cuts start at $75. Premium Lawn Care adds edging plus bed and crack weed control on every visit, starting at $75 weekly. The exact quote depends on the property; the complete tables are published on the pricing page.

What does every College Bros mowing visit include?

Every Basic Lawn Care visit covers three things: the lawn cut at the right height for your grass type, string trimming around fences, trees, mailboxes, and bed lines, and a blow-off that leaves driveways and walkways clean — hard-surface cleanup is part of the mow, not an upsell. The scope is identical whether you run weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. If you want crisp blade edging and weed control in beds and concrete cracks on every visit, that is the Premium package; edging can also be added to a Basic visit from $20. The full service is described on the lawn care page.

What types of grass grow in Northeast Louisiana lawns?

Three turf types dominate yards around Monroe and West Monroe: Bermuda, St. Augustine, and centipede. Bermuda loves full sun, spreads aggressively, and looks best with a lower, frequent cut. St. Augustine has a broad blade, handles shade better, and prefers to be kept taller. Centipede grows slowly, needs less feeding, and also does best at a taller height. College Bros crews set deck height by turf type rather than running one setting on every lawn, because cutting St. Augustine like Bermuda is how lawns get scalped.

Can you bring back a yard that has not been mowed in months?

Yes. College Bros runs recovery cuts across Northeast Louisiana for exactly that situation — rental turnovers, inherited properties, long deployments, or a season that simply got away. The first visit is quoted by the condition of the lot, since tall, matted growth is slower work than a maintained lawn, and after that most customers settle into a normal weekly or biweekly rate based on lot size. Request it through the booking page and mention the yard is overgrown so the crew arrives prepared.

Landscaping & Cleanups

What does College Bros landscaping include?

Four core services: mulch installation and bed refreshes, hedge and shrub trimming, flower bed design and planting, and seasonal cleanups in spring and fall plus cleanup after storms. Projects are priced by scope and typically run $200–$3,000, with smaller jobs like a single-bed refresh at the low end. The landscaping page covers each service in detail, and the pricing page lists every range we publish.

How much should I budget for mulch installation?

Mulch installation from College Bros runs $150–$1,200. Where your project falls depends on three things: the square footage of your beds, the depth of mulch you want, and the material you choose. Before requesting a quote, you can run your bed dimensions through our free mulch calculator to see roughly how much material the job takes — it is the same kind of math we do when we price it.

Do you handle seasonal and storm cleanup?

Yes, both. College Bros does spring and fall cleanups that reset beds and lawns for the season ahead, leaf removal priced at $75–$600 depending on lot size and leaf volume, and storm cleanup at $100–$1,200 based on the debris involved. In Northeast Louisiana, spring storms routinely drop limbs and scatter debris across Ouachita Parish, so cleanup requests get the same treatment as everything else we do: a same-day response and service that usually lands within the week.

Pressure & Soft Washing

When does a house need soft washing instead of pressure washing?

Any time the surface can be damaged by force. College Bros pressure washes hard surfaces — driveways, sidewalks, patios, and fences — but cleans houses and roofs with soft washing, which starts at $200 and uses low pressure plus a cleaning solution that removes mildew and algae at the source. Blasting vinyl siding or shingles with high pressure can force water behind siding and strip granules off a roof, which is why the two methods exist. The pressure washing page explains both.

What does pressure washing cost in the Monroe area?

College Bros washing jobs run $150–$1,000, with the final number driven by square footage and the surfaces involved. A single driveway or sidewalk prices near the bottom of the range, a patio-and-fence combination lands midrange, and a whole-property clean — house soft wash plus concrete and fence — reaches the top. Soft washing for houses and roofs starts at $200. Exact quotes are free and answered the same day through the booking page.

Will washing damage my brick, vinyl, or concrete?

Not when the method matches the material, which is the entire College Bros approach to washing. Concrete and most masonry tolerate direct pressure and come clean with it; vinyl siding, painted surfaces, and roofs get the soft wash treatment, where gentle pressure and the right solution do the work instead of force. Matching method to material is how we deliver the curb appeal without leaving etched concrete, stripped paint, or damaged shingles behind.

Hardscaping & Outdoor Living

What outdoor living projects does College Bros build?

Paver patios and walkways, fire pits and seating walls, and retaining walls and bed borders — the permanent structures that turn a yard into usable space. Every design is drainage-smart, meaning we plan where water goes before planning where pavers go, which matters enormously in Louisiana clay. Each project begins with a free on-site design consultation and a written custom quote. The hardscaping page walks through the build process and includes an interactive 3D patio preview.

Why is there no flat price for a paver patio?

Because no two builds cost the same to do correctly. A patio quote depends on square footage, the pavers you choose, how much excavation and base preparation the soil requires, what drainage work the site needs, and how easily equipment can reach the build area. Rather than publish a number that would be wrong for most yards, College Bros quotes each project after a free on-site consultation — you get a written figure specific to your yard, with no obligation to move forward.

Hardscaping is your newest service — what does that mean for my project?

It means we will be straight with you instead of inventing a portfolio. Hardscaping is the newest College Bros service line, and what stands behind it is the same insured, Monroe-based company that is rated 4.8 across 48 Google reviews and has completed more than 5,000 jobs in lawn care, landscaping, and exterior washing. The process is built so you never take a leap of faith: a free design consultation at your home, a written custom quote, and your approval on the design before a shovel touches dirt.

Service Areas

Where does College Bros work in Northeast Louisiana?

College Bros serves six communities across the Monroe area: Monroe itself, where the company is headquartered, plus West Monroe, Sterlington, Calhoun, Swartz, and Lakeshore. Coverage extends roughly 25 miles out from our Monroe home base, which takes in essentially all of Ouachita Parish. The service areas page links to a dedicated page for each community.

Do you cover Monroe neighborhoods like the Garden District and River Oaks?

Yes — those are some of the most familiar streets on our routes. College Bros crews work daily through Monroe's neighborhoods, including the Garden District, River Oaks, the Forsythe Park area, the ULM campus area, and Lakeshore along Bayou DeSiard. Because routes already pass through these areas every week, new customers there typically get a first visit faster than anywhere else we serve. The Monroe page covers the city in full.

How far outside Monroe will you travel?

About 25 miles from our home base in Monroe, which comfortably reaches every community we list. That includes Calhoun out along the I-20 corridor, where acreage mowing is a specialty, Swartz to the northeast, which sits on the weekly route with no trip fees, and Sterlington, where weekly routes already run. We serve zip codes including 71201, 71202, 71203, 71291, 71292, 71280, 71225, and 71281. Close to the edge of that radius? Send your address through the booking page and we will confirm.

Booking & Scheduling

What is the fastest way to book College Bros?

The online booking page, which runs on Housecall Pro and takes about a minute: choose your service, pick a time that suits you, and you are on the list. If you would rather talk it through, call or text (318) 600-9123 — texting works especially well for sending photos of an overgrown yard or a stained driveway so we can scope the job before anyone drives out. Either way, you hear back the same day.

How long does it take to get on the schedule?

College Bros responds to every request the same day, and service usually happens within the same week. That speed comes from geography: crews already run routes through Monroe, West Monroe, Sterlington, Calhoun, Swartz, and Lakeshore, so most new addresses slot into a route that passes nearby. We will not promise an exact day before confirming the route, but "usually same-week" has held across more than 5,000 completed jobs.

Do I have to be there when the crew arrives?

For routine exterior work — mowing, washing, cleanups — no. Most College Bros customers are at work during their service. What the crew needs is access: gates unlocked, pets brought inside, and vehicles off the surfaces being cut or washed. The one exception is the hardscaping design consultation, where being home is the whole point — we walk the yard together and make layout and budget decisions face to face.

What happens to my service when storms roll through?

Northeast Louisiana springs throw storms at every outdoor schedule, and we plan for it. Mowing soaked turf cuts poorly and ruts soft ground, so when weather stalls a route, College Bros shifts the affected visits and picks your yard back up as soon as conditions allow — and we tell you what is happening rather than leaving you to wonder. If the storm leaves limbs and debris behind, storm cleanup is one of our services, priced at $100–$1,200 depending on the mess.

Pricing & Payment

Where can I see the full College Bros price list?

On the pricing page, which publishes every rate we use: the lawn care package tables by yard size and frequency (Basic mowing from $55 a week, Premium with edging and weed control from $75 a week), landscaping project ranges ($200–$3,000), mulch ($150–$1,200), leaf removal ($75–$600), washing ($150–$1,000 with soft wash from $200), storm cleanup ($100–$1,200), and the custom-quote process for hardscaping. Those published figures are the single source for every quote we give — the website and the crew always say the same number.

Are quotes and estimates free?

Yes, always. Online quote requests, phone and text estimates, and hardscaping design consultations at your home all cost nothing and carry no obligation. College Bros publishes its price ranges precisely so you can sanity-check a number before you ever talk to us; the free quote simply pins down where your specific property lands within the range. The fastest path is the booking page, with the quote form and (318) 600-9123 close behind.

Are your prices per visit, per month, or per contract?

Per visit for recurring lawn care and per project for everything else. Mowing is billed by the cut on whatever cadence fits your lawn — weekly through the heavy growing months, biweekly when growth slows — and you can change cadence as the season shifts. Landscaping, washing, cleanups, and hardscaping are each quoted and billed as individual jobs. Every figure College Bros publishes on the pricing page is a per-visit or per-project estimate.

Insurance, Guarantees & the Company

What protection do I have if something goes wrong?

Two layers. First, College Bros Outdoor Services is insured, so your property is protected while crews work on it. Second, every job carries the company guarantee: not happy? We'll make it right — guaranteed. That promise is backed by a track record you can verify yourself — a 4.8-star rating across 48 Google reviews, which you can read on our reviews page along with a link to the Google profile they live on.

Who is behind College Bros Outdoor Services?

Connor Pauley, who founded the company as a college student at ULM with a mower and a dream. It has since grown into Northeast Louisiana's most-reviewed student-run outdoor services company, running multiple crews out of Monroe with more than 5,000 jobs completed across lawn care, landscaping, washing, and now hardscaping. The short version of the philosophy is on every truck: student-run, professionally operated, locally trusted. The longer version is on the about page.
